In early 2021, Saints Peter and Paul Orthodox Church realized that we needed more space.  After some consideration by the Parish community, the decision was made to look for land on which to build a new Temple. In 2022, with the blessing of our former Metropolitan Joseph, we initially purchased twenty-nine acres in Southeast Topeka, adjacent to Interstate 470.  A site-plan was developed and approved by the city of Topeka, but was never approved by the Archdiocese.

After the election of Metropolitan Saba in February of 2023, when we renewed our effort to obtain approval of our site-plan, we were encouraged to search for a different piece of land on which to build.  So, in spring of 2025, a new nine-acre property was found at 38th and SW Gage Boulevard.  It was purchased in August of 2025.

A revised site-plan has been developed with the help of Baker Galloway of Galloway Studios and has been approved by all parties and initial preparation of the property has begun.

Architect Bryan Falk of Falk Architects will be developing the construction plans for the Fellowship Hall. We hope to construct the exterior walls of the Fellowship Hall using ICF blocks – a highly efficient and structurally sound means of construction. This will be an innovative construction method for commercial use in the Topeka area.

Construction Phases

Phase One Plan:
Fellowship Hall and Church Graveyard

Saints Peter and Paul will meet in a temporary facility while we begin construction of our first new building, the Fellowship Hall.

The Fellowship Hall will include the Nave, Narthex, Classrooms, Catering Kitchen, Administrative Offices, Restrooms and Mechanical Facilities.  It will be used for all Church services, meals, functions and gatherings.

The Parish Graveyard will be available at the completion of Phase One construction once we occupy the new Fellowship Hall.

Phase Two Plan: Orthodox Temple

Once the Fellowship Hall and Graveyard are completed, planning for the new Temple will begin.

Phase Three Plan: Education and Administration

Once the Temple is completed, we will look at additional facilities Saints Peter and Paul needs to carry out our mission.  Mininally this will most likely include additional education and administration facilities.
